The draft North East Analytical Report

The draft North East Analytical Report has been produced by the Association of North East Councils, One North East, and regional partners.

It brings together evidence, research and expertise from across North East England, painting a current picture of the region and highlighting the issues and challenges that we face.

The report will form part of the development of the evidence base for the North East Strategy.

The report includes an evidence framework, which covers four areas:

  • business and enterprise
  • people and communities
  • built environment
  • natural environment

These four areas contain sub-categories each covering:

  • the scope, policy context and rationale
  • current regional position
  • the issues and challenges arising.

It is important that this evidence is robust as it will form part of the basis for decisions on the strategy’s priorities and the direction it will take.  For the evidence to be most valuable it needs to be shared and owned across North East England.

Call for evidence

The call for evidence allowed us to seek your views on:

  • whether the report gave you a comprehensive view of the main issues for North East England;
  • whether the report gave you a comprehensive view of the key sub regional variations on different issues; and
  • the structure and content of the report, plus any general feedback.

The call for evidence closed on Friday 12 March 2010 and we would like to thank everyone who responded. Responses will be collated, reviewed and a summary report will be made available on the website in late Spring 2010.

The draft North East Analytical Report is available to download from our key documents and links page.

Please note that this document is not the North East Strategy, nor does it pre-empt how the North East Strategy will be developed, or the areas it will focus on.
